“Symphony Stories,” a series of 12 photographs of the Allentown Symphony Orchestra behind the scene by Joe Collins, will be unveiled April 17 at his pop up gallery at Two City Center. A reception will be 5-8 p.m. April 19 during Third Thursday in downtown Allentown.
Collins, a police officer turned street photographer, has been showing two series of his black and white works at the gallery since last month in the rented space that once housed the Moravian Book Shop on Hamilton Street.
"Street Musicians" features images of buskers in Philadelphia, New York and Paris and "Street Stories" features images of city life in the U.S. and Europe.
For “Symphony Stories,” a kind of complement to “Street Musicians,” Collins created an homage to professional working musicians and Allentown’s tradition and dedication to orchestral music. He chronicled dress rehearsals and performances in March.
Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tues.-Fri.; noon-5 p.m. Sat. The exhibit continues through April 28.
